Our Team
3Core is comprised of President Justin Popp and a network of Consultants working with one or several of its principal lines of service. All 3 Core Consultants are experienced in their line of service and are graduates or current students at Ivy League or "New Ivy" institutions.
Meet our President:
Justin R. (J.R.) Popp, JD, MBA, MIA, MFP™, BS, BA
President, 3Core, LLC
Justin brings a range of personal, professional, and academic experiences to 3Core. He has worked in all of our service lines since 1995. Mr. Popp was educated at four elite universities, including three "Ivy League" institutions, one "New Ivy," and the Honors College of his local public university. He received his Master's in Business Administration (MBA) from Cornell University, where he co-led a First Place finish in the esteemed Cornell Management Simulation. He also received his Master's of International Affairs (MIA) in International Finance from Columbia University, where he was an Assistant Editor with the Journal of International Affairs.
Justin studied law at Duke University School of Law and the University of Pennsylvania ("Penn") School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctorate (JD) from Duke. In addition, Mr. Popp completed his BS and BA at the University of Pittsburgh, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa (Φ Β Κ) with Dual Departmental Honors and was a Chancellor's Research Fellow at the University Honors College.
Alongside developing expertise in each of the service lines of 3Core, Justin has held myriad roles with investment banks, including stints at three of the four "bulge bracket" investment banks of Merrill Lynch, Salomon Smith Barney, and Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. Immediately prior to founding 3Core, Mr. Popp was an independent consultant in the fields of business/strategy, educational, and career consulting. Mr. Popp is also an accomplished poet and science researcher. His poetry has been published by Pearl Literary Magazine as well as the Three Rivers Review and Duke Law Magazine. His research on a mathematical model of human sensory adaptation while at Pitt was published as part of a larger study in the esteemed journal Physiology and Behavior.
Currently, Justin is a member of the Economic Development and Education subcommittees of the Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project (P.U.M.P.), as well as a member of P.U.M.P.'s Politics and Social Ventures committees. He is on the Board of Directors of the Cornell, Duke and Columbia Clubs of Pittsburgh.
